Introduction
As we reflect on the academic year 2023-24, we are filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Despite the challenges posed by the dwindling number, drought and other external factors, Loyola College, Manvi, has continued to soar to new heights of excellence. Through our unwavering commitment to academic rigor, holistic student development, and community engagement, we have achieved remarkable milestones and made significant contributions to society. This annual report serves as a testament to our collective efforts, achievements, and aspirations for the future. At the beginning of this year, there was a change in leadership at Loyola College, as Fr. Melwyn D’Cunnha passed on the responsibilities to Fr. Vinod Paul as Principal on June 6, 2023. Furthermore, Fr. Cyril Raj joined the college as a new member of the teaching faculty.
Academic Excellence
The cornerstone of our institution, academic excellence remains at the forefront of our endeavors. This academic year, we had 122 students enrolled, making the total college strength 304. The college offered undergraduate programs in BA, BCom, and BSc, along with a postgraduate program in MCom. We are pleased to report an outstanding overall pass percentage of 99.8% in the academic year 2023-24, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and faculty members. Furthermore, we are proud to announce that four of our students - Amith, Mamtha, Anusha, Nandini, and Veeresh - cleared the CPC exam and secured placements in OPTUM (Health Services and Innovation Company), showcasing the caliber of talent nurtured at Loyola College. Along with the principal, our dedicated staffs have contributed to a gradual improvement in the capacity for learning and performance at all levels. As a result, a culture of diligence and hard work is gradually emerging among our students. Fr. Felix Victor conducted an orientation program for our Student Council Members and facilitated faculty development sessions on June 14th and 15th, 2023, empowering them with the skills and knowledge required for effective leadership and academic governance. The Student council elections were held, and Mr. Nagaraj was elected as the president, with Sriram and Jayashree elected as the vice presidents, along with 21 new student council members, demonstrating student leadership and engagement within the college community. Two of our sixth semester students secured out of out in Mathematics exam.
